For Freshman Students

Orientation FreshmanMoving up from high school to college is exciting. It can also be overwhelming. To make this rite of passage as stress-free as possible, all entering students are required to attend one of LIU Post’s Freshman Orientations. The two-day session includes an overnight stay in our residence halls and brings together all the classmates you will be sharing college life with at LIU Post.

Once you have registered for your desired session, our Orientation staff will contact you with a list of items to pack and provide further expectations and guidelines before your arrival on campus for Orientation.

After meeting your fellow students and their families, you’ll explore our beautiful, park-like campus and learn about all the services and programs available to you at LIU Post – academic and career counseling, residence life, commuter student programs, health and counseling services, financial aid procedures, personal safety, intramural and athletic programs, clubs and organizations and student activities. You’ll be served breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you’ll have a chance to participate in a game show, a pizza party and other social “ice-breakers.”

Check in will be at 9 a.m. at the Green/Gold Registration tent located between Nassau and Queens Hall

Parent and Family Orientation

Freshman Orientation

Are you a parent or family member of a new freshman at LIU Post? We have special workshops for you on the first day of Freshman Orientation. You can meet with faculty and a panel of current students, and learn about the many services available to your student, including health and counseling, public safety on campus and the learning support center. You’ll also hear important tips on “empty nest syndrome,” how to support your child in his or her college experience, and how to become involved with the Post Parent and Family Connection. Parent and Family Orientation runs from 9am-5pm on day 1 of each session and from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. on day 2 of each session. There is no fee for Parent and Family Orientation. Registration is required.
