HONORS COLLEGE

Scholarships and Financial Aid


Students enrolled in the Honors Program are eligible for a variety of scholarships. The LIU Post Financial Assistance Office administers federal, state, and institutional aid programs to qualified students to help them finance their college education. Funds are available through a variety of sources, including the U.S. Department of Education, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, and the university itself.

  • LIU Post Provost's Award for Scholastic Excellence (Freshmen): Students designated as a "National Merit Scholarship Corporation Competition Finalist" or a "Finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program Competition" after taking the PSAT/NMSQT test in high school during junior year are eligible for consideration for a limited number of annual full-tuition scholarships. For consideration of this award, students must designate LIU Post as their first choice institution. Recipients of this scholarship must participate fully in the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program.
  • LIU Post/Nassau Community College Scholarship (Transfer): This scholarship is designed for full-time students transferring with an earned Associate's Degree (AS or AA) or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York. To be eligible for consideration, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate. Recipients of this scholarship must participate fully in the Honors Program and Merit Fellowship.
  • LIU Post/Suffolk County Community College Scholarship (Transfer): This scholarship is designed for full-time students transferring with an earned Associate's Degree (AS or AA) or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) from Suffolk County Community College. To be eligible for consideration, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate. Recipients of this scholarship must participate fully in the Honors Program and Merit Fellowship.
  • LIU Post Honors and Merit Fellowship Program (Freshmen/Transfer): LIU Post undergraduate students in all majors are invited to apply for participation in the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program. Scholarships may be available to full-time undergraduate students accepted into the Honors and Merit Fellowship Program on the basis of their LIU Post academic record and financial need.
  • LIU Post Transfer Scholars Award: This grant is designed for full-time students transferring with 24 or more credits from an accredited college or university with a cumulative average of 3.75-4.0. To be eligible for consideration, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate.
  • LIU Post Transfer Excellence Award: This grant is designed for students transferring with 12 or more credits from an accredited college or university who have maintained a cumulative average of 3.4-3.75. To be eligible, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate.
  • LIU Post Transfer Incentive Award: This grant is designed for students transferring with 12 or more credits from an accredited college or university with a cumulative average of between 3.0 and 3.39. To be eligible, students must be full-time and must pay the flat tuition rate.
