Student-Run Business

Powered by Post: Student-Run Businesses

LIU Post is a national leader in student-powered entrepreneurship and engaged learning opportunities. In 2014, with the input, talent, and hard work of our Student-Run Business Committee, the campus community launched four on-campus businesses that employ students at all levels of the operation. LIU Post now has eight student-run businesses, plus the Browse store, which is student-staffed.  These ventures are part of LIU’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship in our community and commitment to empowering students through real-world experience.

Students are responsible for launching and managing daily operations of the store as well as marketing the business to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the LIU Post community. Students embrace these powerful experiences as part of a campus-wide initiative that instills an entrepreneurial mindset that is applicable across all majors—from fine arts to business to health sciences. In today’s highly competitive global marketplace, learning how to brand yourself to employers and creating your own opportunities for professional success are the most crucial skills a career-minded graduate needs.

These ventures also contribute to the ecosystem of entrepreneurship at LIU with a self-sustainable business model. Half of all profits support LIU scholarships while the other half helps to fund future student-run enterprises.

Get involved! The Student-Run Business Committee is seeking passionate, creative members who are interested in earning real-world experience in small business operations and contributing to the growth of LIU Post’s student-run enterprises. Similar to a board of directors, the SRBC is a group of students, faculty, and administrators who are directly involved with the planning, management, marketing, financing, and overall operations of every student-run business on campus.
