The New York State Department of Health has reported a sharp increase in the incidence of influenza in the state. Long Island and NYC are included in the areas where increases have been reported. Symptoms of flu may include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills, fatigue and some people may experience vomiting and diarrhea. The flu may also cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.
What can I do to protect myself from getting ill?
The NYS Department of Health recommends that everyone 6 months of age or older be immunized for seasonal flu. Immunizations are available at the LIU Post Medical Services Department.
