Office for Non-Traditional Student Programs
The Office for Non-Traditional Student Programs at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University provides exciting opportunities for current and visiting students to enroll in courses during time periods outside of the traditional Spring and Fall semesters. The office also provides comprehensive support services to meet the unique needs of adult student learners who are returning to school.
The Winter Session is held over a 10-day period (from the end of December through mid-January) and is considered a full semester. Courses are offered at 1/3 off the regular tuition rate. Most courses award three credits.
C.W. Post offers more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate classes and institutes during the Summer Sessions which run from May to August. Courses range from one to four credits and are generally five weeks in length. Other opportunities include study abroad courses, one week institutes for graduate students, as well Summer College classes for academically talented high school juniors and seniors.
The University offers convenient courses through its Evening Programs and Weekend College to assist students who have day-time work and family obligations. We also offer discounted programs for Senior Citizens.
Many non-traditional students (25 years or older) go back to school to complete educational pursuits that they began years before as traditional students. Non-traditional students, or adult students, return to school either full- or part-time while maintaining responsibilities such as employment and family obligations. The Office for Non-Traditional Student Programs offers guidance and support to assist students with this transition and provides a full range of flexible course schedules, including evening and weekend classes. We also provide workshops such as the Return to Learning Program to hone reading, study and time management skills; the Life Experience Program to receive course credit for knowledge and experience gained outside of the traditional classroom; and the Returning Adult Scholarship award for full- or part-time adult students.
