Graduate Student Checklist
Congratulations again on your acceptance to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. In applying to graduate school here, you recognized C.W. Post as a place where you will receive a quality private education that fosters creativity, collaboration, self-discovery and professional development. C.W. Post graduate students are blazing trails in exciting and diverse fields of study, from health care and business administration to teacher education, the liberal arts and library science. Our faculty members believe in your professional success and will work with you to reach your personal career goals.
Now that you have received a formal offer of acceptance, we ask that you please follow the steps below to complete the registration process that will confirm your status as an enrolled student. Our admissions staff is here to help you with your preparations in any way we can. If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Pay Your Tuition Deposit
To ensure your place in the next entering class, download and complete the Admitted Student Response Form. Mail the form along with a nonrefundable $200 tuition deposit made payable by credit card, check or money order to: Bursar’s Office, C.W. Post Campus, Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300. Please include your student I.D. number on the memo portion of the check or money order. Your 9-digit C.W. Post student I.D. number can be found on your acceptance letter. If you do not know your I.D. number, please contact the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900.
Deadlines to submit Tuition Deposit and Admitted Student Response Form:
- May 1 for Fall enrollment
- January 1 for Spring enrollment
If these dates have passed, the deposit deadline is two weeks after the receipt of the letter of admission.
Once you made your tuition deposit of $200, you can make an appointment to meet your graduate advisor who will help you select your courses and register for the upcoming semester.
Apply for Financial Aid
(for U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents only)
If you have not already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we urge you to do so by March 1. Logon to www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to apply for federal, New York State and university grants, scholarships and other financial aid. If you need help along the way, contact the C.W. Post Financial Assistance Office at 516-299-2338 or visit the Financial Assistance & Scholarships Web site.
Complete Health Forms
C.W. Post requires all enrolled students to complete the following health forms:
Report of Medical History
Report of Health Evaluation
Meningococcal Meningitis Vaccination Response Form
These forms should be completed by you and your physician and mailed to: Director, Student Health and Counseling, C.W. Post Campus, Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300.
(Note: International students must complete all health forms in English)
Apply for On-Campus Housing
On-campus housing is available to full-time graduate students only (taking 9 or more credits).
If you plan to live on the C.W. Post Campus, you must complete and submit the Application for On-Campus Housing and a deposit of $300. Mail the form along with a nonrefundable $300 housing deposit made payable by credit card, check or money order to: Bursar’s Office, C.W. Post Campus, Long Island University, 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY 11548-1300. Please include your student I.D. number on the memo portion of the check or money order. The 9-digit University I.D. number can be found on your acceptance letter. If you do not know your I.D. number, please contact the Admissions Office at 516-299-2900. Students will not be assigned a residence hall unless they have registered for classes for the upcoming semester.

Set Up Your My LIU Account
After you are registered for classes, activate your My LIU account, which will give you access to your course schedule, grades, financial aid, and billing information and access to online course registration for future semesters. To activate your account, go to my.liu.edu and create a user name and password (use your social security number or your LIU ID which was included on your acceptance letter). You can use My LIU to register for future semesters, check your grades, pay your bill online, and designate individuals (such as your parents) to view your tuition bill. You can also use My LIU as your official e-mail address. Tell your friends and family they can e-mail you at email@example.com. If you have questions or problems, phone the Center for Student Information (CSI) at 516-299-3967 or e-mail for help at CSI@liu.edu.
Other Important Information
Compulsory Health Insurance Requirement: Long Island University requires all residential students, student-athletes, clinical fieldwork participants, and international students to maintain valid health insurance. You will be automatically billed for the compulsory health insurance plan on your student account. Students who have their own health insurance may waive this charge. This is a time-sensitive responsibility. Students must complete the waiver on or before the semester deadline date to avoid being billed. To waive the charge, log into your MyLIU account at https://my.liu.edu and select the Student Health Insurance option from the Useful Links section of the Student Center homepage and follow the required instructions. Please print and retain a receipt for your records.
