Departments & Programs

Art VaseThe School of Visual and Performing Arts is the cultural heart of LIU Post. More than 700 creative students from around the world partner with our outstanding faculty —professional artists, therapists, media specialists, and scholars — to pursue the highest levels of excellence in 27 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

All programs in the Department of Art, Department of Media Arts, Department of Music, and Department of Theatre, Film, Dance and Arts Management have a strong liberal arts foundation: they encourage individual creativity while fostering critical and analytical thinking and writing proficiencies. Powered by our faculty’s direct involvement in the creative arts, our extensive internship program gives students professional-level experience while still in school — and a head start toward a successful career after graduation.

Profiles in Success

Erika Amandola

Erika Amandola, B.F.A. in Public Relations, Class of 2013

"I never thought I'd qualify for an internship as a freshman, but thanks to my LIU Post education and background, the New York Islanders felt I was ready to work for an entire season in the sponsorship department. At my internship I learned first-hand what it's like to work at professional sports team. Thanks to that experience I've gained important practical knowledge working in a business environment and I have become more confident in my career path."
