Post-Doctoral Fellowships and First Employments

In order to be eligible to sit for the licensure exam in New York State, doctoral program graduates must complete a 1-year post-doctoral fellowship (or the equivalent). Typically, alums complete this work with a limited permit from the New York State Department of Education. Once a post-doctoral fellowship (or the equivalent) is completed, graduates take the Examination for the Practice of Professional Psychology (EPPP). Upon passing the exam, students are then licensed psychologists, ready for their first employment as a licensed professional psychologist.
