Facilities for Health and Physical Education Majors
Health and Physical Education majors benefit from a wide range of athletic training, fitness and classroom facilities. The Department of Health, Physical Education and Movement Science is located in the Pratt Recreation Center, a state-of-the-art facility in the athletics complex on the LIU Post campus.
The Pratt Recreation Center features a Human Performance Laboratory, 1/8th of a mile jogging track, three-court gymnasium, a fitness and weight room, and a multi-purpose room for methods and general activity courses. Students studying health and physical education take many of their classes in the Pratt Recreation Center. The center also features a pool and racquetball courts which students use as part of their coursework. The Human Performance Lab is an outstanding facility for classes in kinesiology and exercise physiology.
The LIU Post Athletic Department provides 70 acres of manicured fields for use in instruction, training, NCAA Division II sports, and recreational free play by students, faculty and staff. Fields are used for football, soccer, field hockey, baseball, softball, tennis and lacrosse.
