Description
Yajun Mo joined the LIU Post faculty in Fall 2012 as an Assistant Professor in the History Department. She received her Ph.D. in East Asian history in 2011 from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her dissertation, Itineraries for a Republic, Travel Culture and Tourism in Modern China, 1866-1954, traces the development of modern Chinese tourism and diverse experiences of travel in China from the last years of the Qing dynasty to the early years of the People’s Republic, illustrating how the sense of national belonging was formulated in a country with vast regional differences in an age of political fragmentation. Before joining LIU Post, she was Visiting Assistant Professor of East Asian History at Albion College for the 2011 academic year. Dr. Mo’s research and teaching interests span modern East Asia and China, especially the social, cultural, and gender history of the twentieth century.
