Description

Brian J. Galli is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science, Innovation, and Management Engineering, which is part of the College of Management at Long Island University. Dr. Galli’s primary research interests involve continuous improvement deployment and sustainability as well as project management, leadership, decision-making, organizational development/team dynamics and quality management systems. He has published in several well-known journals and has presented at several conferences and forums on many of his research interests. He has over 9 years of experience in applying industrial engineering and continuous improvement tools and concepts in a wide variety of arenas, including healthcare, manufacturing, transactional, and service environments. He has been an adjunct professor for many academic institutions since fall 2010, including: New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Stony Brook University (SUNY), LIU Post, American Public University System (Online), Southern New Hampshire University (Online), City University of New York (CUNY), and Binghamton University (SUNY).

He has spent over 6 years working for Northwell Health (formerly known as North Shore LIJ Health System) in New York and 1 year in Health Plan in the EmblemHealth Service Company. He also owns Apex Strategies, Ltd, a company that that specializes in continuous improvement consulting and training initiatives. He is active member in many professional organizations, including: American Society for Quality (ASQ), Industrial for Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE), American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), Society for Health System (SHS), American Society for Engineering Education, and the Project Management Institute (PMI). On campus, Brian is actively involved in the High School Scholars program, LIU-IQ consulting, and the honors program. He also runs a training and certification program on campus that provides students with the opportunity to become certified in the fields of Six Sigma and Lean.

Brian enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, biking and spending time with his family. Brian and his wife, Catherine, have two children, Gabriella and Victoria.
