Institute of Education for Social Justice

The Institute of Education for Social Justice is an interdisciplinary initiative created to foster a better understanding of issues involving inequality and social justice. By instituting programs that address how these issues impact teaching and learning, it seeks to advance sensitivity and responsiveness in the campus community to differences related to race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, language, and culture; to promote a civic concern for the welfare of others; to identify and illuminate problems of social justice in the local, national, and international community; to address the role of teaching and scholarship in drawing attention to social injustice and inequality; and to pose practical solutions to problems of inequality and social injustice.
