Meet the Coordinators
Lauren is very excited to be the newest coordinator of the LIU Post Recycling Program. She oversees all of our Environmental Assistants and is responsible for the day-to-day operations including scheduling, payroll, hiring, etc. Lauren also serves as the Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development. After graduating from LIU Post in May 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, she is now pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration and Health Care Administration. As an undergraduate at LIU Post, Lauren was very active in student life as well as Greek Life. She was a sister, as well as the President of Alpha Xi Delta, and she held executive board positions within the Commuters Student Association. Lauren is full of enthusiasm and is eager to be working with the Recycling Program.
Billy Achnitz is no stranger to the LIU Post Recycling Program. As an undergraduate at LIU Post, he served two years as the Coordinator and one year as an Environmental Assistant. In addition to being the Graduate Assistant for Sustainability, Billy is beginning his third year as one of the coordinators of the Recycling Program. He oversees the Environmental Educators and works with them to educate the campus community about recycling and waste reduction. Like Lauren, Billy also graduated in May 2012 earning a Bachelor's degree in both Accounting and Finance and is now pursuing a Master's degree in the new Environmental Sustainability program. In addition to his participation with the Recycling Program, Billy founded and served as President of the Men Respecting All Women/Women Appreciating Real Men club, held executive board positions in the Newman Catholic Community, and worked as a Resident Assistant for 4 years. Billy's passion lies within building a sustainable world and he is very excited to begin another year as a coordinator.
