LIU Post ranks among the most energy-efficient universities in the Northeast. Over the past several years it has been able to maintain its energy consumption between 83,000 and 93,000 BTU’s per square foot for the campus. According to Sightlines, a facilities asset advisory firm, studies rank them far below the average of 138,000 BTU’s consumed per square foot at comparable colleges and universities in the region.
LIU Post is an institution dedicated to shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, we should be at the forefront of earth-friendly power and conservation. Accordingly, we have taken many steps to be a part of the solution to climate change and fossil fuel dependency.
As William Kirker, the Director of Facilities Services, has said, “It makes sense economically, and it’s the right thing to do.”
