Hurricane Sandy Update: Message from the Provost

Subject: Revised class and exam schedules following Hurricane Sandy

In order to make up the class time lost as a result of Hurricane Sandy, individual professors will schedule make-up classes on Fridays or Saturdays in November and December, or during Common Hour, or on Wednesday, December 12 (which was originally a Study Day). Your professors will inform you about specific meeting times and locations. A re-scheduling template has been circulated to all faculty, and they will communicate their re-scheduling decisions to the Registrar.

Re-scheduled classes will meet at the normally-scheduled time of day and in the regularly-scheduled classroom whenever possible.

Please note that study/make-up days are now scheduled for Thursday, December 13 and Friday, December 14. These days will remain open to accommodate any snow closings that may occur this semester, and classes missed because of the hurricane should not be re-scheduled to either of those days. Final exams will be held between Monday, December 17 and Friday, December 21. Final exams originally scheduled for Friday, December 14 will now be held on Friday, December 21.

New York State Education Department and the Federal Department of Education mandate the conditions which determine the workload and contact time required for each credit hour earned. Individual faculty are responsible for ensuring their course schedules meet those requirements. Should you have any concerns about the requirements for any of your courses, please speak first with the instructor, next with the Department Chair, and finally with the Dean’s Office. Should you need additional assistance, please contact your Academic Advisor.
