Are the courses approved to satisfy the educational component of my J-1 Visitor Exchange Visa?
Yes, our University Director of Government Relations has researched the Educational Component and the guidelines are as states; Au pairs must complete six semester hours (or their equivalent) of academic credit in a formal educational setting at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution. LIU Post is an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution.

Is Long Island University an accredited University?
YES, Long Island University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges.
Are meals and overnight accommodations included in the cost?
Please see room and board. All of our weekend courses offer an option for meals and overnight accommodations if you choose the accommodation plan for a fee of $100. Our Saturday Program does not offer any meals or overnight accommodations.
Can anyone enroll for the on campus Weekend Course?
YES, students who live locally, or students who live some distance from campus are welcome.
Are the courses regular University courses which grant credit toward a degree?
The courses offered for au pairs are special interest classes and do not earn credit toward a college degree. These courses, however, do meet the credit course requirements for the educational component of the au pair experience.
Where will the classes be conducted?
The LIU Post Au pair Program is always held at the LIU Post campus in New York.
Will LIU Post bring the courses to other areas of the country?
YES, we will be happy to work with LCCs or Regional Coordinators to schedule a course anywhere in the country; however, there would need to be an enrollment of 50 or more students to teach the classes elsewhere. Further, we would need about 4 month notice to arrange the instructors schedule, transportation and to arrange for classroom space.
What time should I book my flight or train on the last day of the course?
Classes conclude on the last day between 3 and 4 pm.
Can any student attend these American Culture Courses?
YES, Students who are accepted at LIU Post Long Island University is welcome to attend these courses.
If I want to register for a course, when do I have to pay?
The payment must be completed on the registration form. Your registration will not be processed without payment.
Does LIU Post campus have internet access?
YES, LIU Post campus has internet access; however wireless in not available, you must use an Ethernet cord.
What is an Ethernet cord?
An Ethernet cord is the cable that connects your computer to the internet through ports in the dormitories. It is used in wired internet. You can rent one through the University Au pair Program at check-in. It is $10.00 to rent and a refund of $5.00 will be given upon returning the Ethernet cord.
Please note Ethernet cords do not work with iPod’s or iPad’s.
