Pioneers Head to NCAA Championships–Twice!

The LIU Post softball and men’s lacrosse teams are off to the NCAA championship games this week. The No. 7 LIU Post men’s lacrosse team will head to the national title game in Baltimore, Md. They will play in the NCAA Division II National Championship after a 12-9 win over top-ranked Adelphi University in a national semifinal clash on Sunday, May 18.
This marks the eighth time in program history that the LIU Post’s men’s lacrosse team will be playing for a national championship. Head Coach John Jez and the Pioneers are looking for their fourth title, the first since the 2010 season, this Sunday, May 25, when they square off with South Region Champion Limestone at M&T Bank Stadium. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. All of the action can be seen on NCAA.com.
The LIU Post softball team edged Caldwell, 3-0, last Saturday to capture the NCAA Division II East Region Championship. The Pioneers have now reached the 50-win mark, and sit at 50-9 overall heading into the College World Series from May 22 to 26. This is the fourth time the LIU Post softball program will be playing in the College World Series, the team’s first since 2011. LIU Post has set a program record with 50 wins this season and will be taking on No. 1 West Texas A&M this Thursday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m., at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.
