Sarah DeCamp,Associate Director of Public Relations
Cheerleaders from Carle Place High School (Carle Place, N.Y.) and MacArthur High School (Levittown, N.Y.) greeted patrons at the performance of Bring it On! The Musical at the Tilles Center for Performing Arts at LIU Post on Sunday, March 31. More than 30 cheerleaders performed cheers at the entrances of the concert hall much to the delight of patrons arriving to see the hilarious musical about the challenges and unexpected bonds formed by cheerleaders. The Long Island cheerleaders then attended the performance that featured a colorful crew of characters, an exciting fresh sound, and explosive dance with aerial stunts. The packed house enjoyed 90 minutes of skyscraping pyramids, high-octane basket tosses, and mid-air arabesques you would expect from cheerleading competitions televised on ESPN.
Also attending the performance were 20 members of the varsity squad from St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School in Staten Island, N.Y., as well as members of the LIU Post Pioneers Cheerleading Team.
LIU Post will host a residential cheerleading camp this summer for high school students from Aug. 1-4 in the Pratt Recreation Center. For more information, contact the National Cheerleaders Association Camp at uca.varsity.com or call LIU Post Conference Services at 516-299-2783.
