Pierrot ConsortBrookville, N.Y. – The LIU Post Chamber Music Festival is celebrating its 32nd Summer Season this July with a series of concerts, which begin on the evening of Friday, July 12 with a concert of chamber music performed by The Pierrot Consort.  Special guest artist Lawrence Dutton, violist of the nine-time Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet, will join The Pierrot Consort in performance at the LIU Post Chamber Music Festival on the second concert of the series on the evening of Friday, July 19. Also included in the Festival’s concert series will be an afternoon Informal Concert presented by the Imani Winds on Tuesday, July 23 at 1 p.m.

The Pierrot Consort, the faculty ensemble-in-residence at LIU Post includes Susan Deaver, flute; Dale Stuckenbruck, violin; Veronica Salas, viola; Maureen Hynes, cello and Heawon Kim, piano. In addition to its regular concert series at Long Island University, The Pierrot Consort has performed at Merkin Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Bartok Society at Saranac Lake, the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut, BOCES, the Stockbridge Chamber Concerts in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, the St. Paul Chapel Series at Columbia University and the Islip Arts Council. In addition, The Pierrot Consort was sponsored by Tilles Center to perform the original ballet version of Aaron Copland's “Appalachian Spring” and has collaborated with Tilles Center’s Arts Education Program performing for the Summer Seminar for teachers. The artist members of the ensemble are actively involved in the musical life of New York City and have a commitment to the educational life of Long Island.

Special guest artist Lawrence Dutton is a master musician who has collaborated with many of the world’s best performing artists and won the Avery Fisher Prize as a member of the Emerson String Quartet. Mr. Dutton will join The Pierrot Consort for an evening of chamber music on July 19 that includes selections by Mozart and Mendelssohn.        

The concerts are in Hillwood Recital Hall at LIU Post in Brookville will begin at 8 p.m.

The LIU Post Chamber Music Festival, now in its 32nd Summer Season, will take place July 8 through 26 at LIU Post.  The Festival is an intensive, three-week program that focuses on the study and performance of the standard chamber music repertoire, and includes a concert series with performances at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Hillwood Recital Hall by The Pierrot Consort, the faculty ensemble-in-residence at LIU Post, with special guests and festival participants.

The final concerts of the Festival, the Seminar Chamber Orchestra and the Festival Chamber Orchestra, will feature over 100 festival participants. Friday, July 12 – ATLANTIC CROSSING: The Pierrot Consort, the faculty ensemble-in-residence at LIU Post includes Susan Deaver, flute; Dale Stuckenbruck, violin; Veronica Salas, viola; Maureen Hynes, cello and Heawon Kim, piano joined by Festival faculty members Nam-Sook Choei Lee, violinist and Frank Cassara, marimba.

The opening concert of the 32nd Summer Season of the LIU Post Chamber Music Festival features The Pierrot Consort (Susan Deaver, flute; Dale Stuckenbruck, violin; Veronica Salas, viola; Maureen Hynes, cello; Heawon Kim, piano) with guest artists Nam-Sook Choei Lee, violin and Frank Cassara, marimba.  Performances will include Turina: Piano Trio No. 2 in B minor; Villa-Lobos: Quintette Instrumental for Harp, Flute, Violin, Viola and Cello; Coleridge-Taylor: Piano Quintet in G minor and “Mojave” for Marimba and String Quartet by American composer Michael Torke. 8 p.m., Hillwood Recital Hall, LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd. (Route 25A), Brookville. Friday, July 19 – LIFE CELEBRATIONS: The Pierrot Consort with Special Guest Artist Lawrence Dutton, violist of the Emerson String Quartet and guest artists Elizabeth Lim-Dutton, violin and Adam Krauthamer, horn
The second concert of the LIU Post Chamber Music Festival features music celebrating life events.  An exciting chamber music evening featuring The Pierrot Consort (Susan Deaver, flute; Dale Stuckenbruck, violin; Veronica Salas, viola; Maureen Hynes, cello; Heawon Kim, piano) and special guest Lawrence Dutton (violist of the Emerson String Quartet) and guest artist Elizabeth Lim-Dutton, violin and Adam Krauthamer, horn. Performances will include Bridge: Piano Quartet (Phantasy); Ewazen: Pastoral and Dance for Flute, Horn and Piano; Mozart: Adagio from String Quintet in B flat Major, K. 174 and Mendelssohn: String Quintet No. 2 in B flat Major, Op. 87. 8 p.m., Hillwood Recital Hall, LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd. (Route 25A), Brookville. Tuesday, July 23 – Imani Winds – Informal Concert
As part of a daylong Educational Residency at the LIU Post Chamber Music Festival, the Imani Winds will present an Informal Concert. The Grammy nominated Imani Winds has established itself as one of the most successful woodwind quintets in the United States with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, adventurous collaborations, and inspirational outreach programs. With two member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new works, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African and Latin American traditions.  1 p.m., Hillwood Recital Hall, LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd. (Route 25A), Brookville.
