Brookville, N.Y. -- LIU Post alumna and swimmer Cornelia Hanes is making a splash in a new commercial for the New York Stock Exchange.
The 30-second television advertisement, which is called “The Big Stage,” and is airing on CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg TV, show Hanes warming up before a swim meet, interspersed with a ballerina preparing for a performance, a singer getting dressed before a concert and a CEO getting ready to ring the opening bell at the NYSE. Each time the commercial airs, it features the actual bell ringing by a new startup company.
Hanes, who graduated in 2012 from Long Island University/LIU Post with a B.F.A. in Arts Management and now lives in Brooklyn, was an integral member of the LIU Post women’s swim team. She swam butterfly and freestyle and helped the team set a school record in the 400 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay in 2010. She won the All-American Honorable Mention at NCAA Championships, the Newcomer Award and was named Most Improved Swimmer in 2010. She received the Pioneer Excellence Award in 2013.
