LIU Post welcomes more than 950 freshman to campus this week. The Class of 2016 consists of 950 students from a variety of states and countries, including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Michigan, Japan and China. Forty-six of the incoming freshmen have a parent or grandparent who attended LIU. Twenty-eight of our incoming freshmen have a sibling at LIU Post who attends the school or graduated from the LIU system.
Approximately 550 freshmen moved into the residence halls during the Labor Day holiday weekend. As part of the orientation to campus life, students are invited to take part in Welcome Week activities such as "Meet the Greeks," an outdoor movie, comedy night, Bingo for Books!, trips to Citifield and Hershey Park and the first home football game on September 8.
The Class of 2016 will be formally welcomed into the academic learning community at Convocation on September 19 at 12:30 p.m. in Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. For information visit our website at www.liu.edu/post/convocation.
