Educational Technologist Alan November to speak at LIU Post (Yes, in November)

Brookville, N.Y. -- Internationally renowned education futurist and technologist Alan November will speak at LIU Post Friday, Nov. 16 at 3:30 p.m. The lecture will be designed as an interactive session to discuss current and future trends in higher education technology. Students, faculty, staff and the public are invited to attend. Admission is free.
November’s appearance is generously supported by a grant from the John P. McGrath Fund of Long Island University.
November began his career as an oceanography teacher and dorm counselor at an island reform school for boys in Boston Harbor. While teaching a computer science class in Lexington, Mass. In 1984, he put a student project, a database for the handicapped, online – more than a decade ahead of the Internet boom. November had seen the Internet’s potential long before the rest of the world caught on.
Now November helps governments and industry leaders improve the quality of education through technology with his consultant company, November Learning. November’s areas of expertise include planning across curriculum, staff development, new school design, community building and leadership development. He has delivered keynotes and workshops in all 50 states, across Canada and throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Central America.
November was named one of the nation’s fifteen most influential thinkers of the decade by Technology and Learning Magazine. In 2007 he was selected to speak at the Cisco Public Services Summit during the Nobel Prize Festivities in Stockholm, Sweden. His writing includes numerous articles and two best-selling books, “Empowering Students with Technology”and “Web Literacy for Educators.” November was co-founder of the Stanford Institute for Educational Leadership Through Technology and was one of the original five national Christa McAuliffe Educators.
