Long Island University
Brookville, N.Y. – LIU Post students, faculty and staff can now ask questions and receive information using the campus library's new Text-A-Librarian service. Text-A-Librarian will replace the Instant Messaging (IM) service that the library has previously offered.
For anyone who is unable to visit a librarian in person or speak with them through the already offered online chat or e-mail services, Text-A-Librarian provides a convenient option for receiving information on a mobile device. Users can send questions or inquiries to LIU Post's reference librarians via text message through their mobile device.
Since the service does not display phone numbers and generates anonymous IDs, each user's information is kept secure and private.
Text-A-Librarian was developed by Mosio, an award-winning mobile technology company that enables companies and institutions to harness the power of mobile communications.
To utilize the service, students can simply text "askpost" to 66746 for instructions. Message and data rates may apply. For more information about the LIU Post Text-A-Librarian service please visit http://www2.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/library/askalibrarian/chat_im.htm.
