Keith Jordan, an Eagle Scout from the Bronx, has been a "gamer" since he was 7 years old. Today, as a student in the Master of Arts in Video Game Design and Development program at LIU Post, Jordan isn't just playing video games – he's making them.
"I have always loved the way video games created an experience for people to enjoy," he said.
At Cardinal Spellman High School and at City College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 2010, Jordan started video game clubs. He took computer science courses, but also studied writing, theater, art, poetry and music – because every video game need a plot, characters, scenery, graphics and a soundtrack.
The Master of Arts in Digital Game Design and Development is a 36-credit, interdisciplinary program that provides students with the technical, creative and collaborative skills necessary in the world of professional game and other interactive media design.
Jordan plans to use his knowledge of video game design to turn his passion for gaming into a career. He has already gotten the attention of his fellow scouts.
"They're always interested in what I do in my classes, because they love games too," he said with a smile.
