Artists from a wide variety of backgrounds and techniques have joined together in a collaborative exhibit of work produced at the LIU Post Craft Center. "Fired Up!" will be on view at LIU Post now until July 21 and is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 2 - 5 p.m. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Curator's walkthrough will start at 5 p.m.
Though it is strictly a ceramic show, it represents a wide spectrum of forms and techniques: pottery, sculpture, functional, and non-functional work are shown with a variety of surface paints and embellishments applied. The show will feature anagama (wood) fired pieces as well as raku and soda fired work. Some of the work is glazed, some unglazed, others are screen-printed or hand-painted and inked. The show includes work by over 20 artists, bringing together LIU Post professors, undergraduate students, master's students and nontraditional students.
"We wanted to include everyone who has found a home within the Craft Center walls which I think we accomplished quite nicely," said Casey Faulkner, who is co-curating the exhibit with Franklin Perrell and Cynthia Jay.
The exhibit is held in the Hutchins Gallery in the B. Davis Schwartz Memorial Library at LIU Post (formerly the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University). The campus is located at 720 Northern Boulevard, Brookville, NY.
