LIU Post Student Reginald L. Brown Jr. Awarded 2012 Social Work Scholarship

Brookville, N.Y. -- Reginald Brown, a student enrolled in the Master of Social Work program at LIU Post (formerly the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University), has been awarded a $500 scholarship from the National Association of Social Workers, New York State Chapter, Nassau Division.
Brown, 26, who lives in Hempstead, N.Y., received the award at a ceremony on June 6, 2012 at the NASW NYS-Nassau Division Annual Awards Dinner.
Brown is enrolled in the Forensic Social Work program and is an active member of the Master of Social Work Graduate Student Association. He was recently elected Student Government Association Representative of the MSWGSA. In the fall he will work at the Hempstead High School Team Center as a social work intern. When he graduates, he hopes to work within the juvenile justice system.
"Reggie always puts tremendous effort into his assignments both inside and outside the classroom. He is extremely committed to his education and has a distinct appreciation for community service," said Dr. Elissa Giffords, associate professor of social work and the MSWGSA liaison.
NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 145,000 members. The group works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.
