LIU Post’s Long Island Women's Institute Hosts
"Follow Your Passion: Reinvent Yourself and Your Identity"
Local experts discuss choosing or changing a career path

Brookville, N.Y. -- Professionals considering a career change, recent college graduates just entering the job market and current college students are invited to attend a lecture sponsored the Long Island Women's Institute at LIU Post (formerly the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University) where experts will discuss how to choose a career path -- from recognizing strengths and interests to learning how to cultivate new skills.
"Follow Your Passion: Reinvent Yourself and Your Identity: Career Paths, Finding Your Way and Changing Your Course," will be held Wednesday, February 15 at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall. Three of Long Island's most successful businesswomen will share their thoughts on how to successfully look for opportunities that can open doors to new careers. The event is free and open to the public.
Arlene Haims, a Certified Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant as well as a Fellow of the Life Underwriters Training Council. An insurance professional for the past 27 years, she serves as the chief operating officer for Haims Insurance Group.
Karen McKenna, a career counselor, trainer and writer with over 25 years' experience across multiple industries, and the founder of East-Setauket-based CareerVision.
Rona Wexler, a vocational evaluator and employability expert who provides witness services and litigation support to matrimonial and employment attorneys nationally, with focus in New York, Connecticut New Jersey and Florida.
"Nobody knows what the future holds. Therefore, we need to be prepared for all that comes our way," said Professor Roslyn Muraskin, director of the LIU Post Long Island Women's Institute. "Follow Your Passion a conference where the experts will help all of us to reinvent ourselves to hopefully make the correct career decisions. Join us on February 15."
The LIU Post Long Island Women's Institute (LIWI), now in its 21st year, sponsors lectures and forums on a range of topics affecting women, including pay equity, health and wellness, training and development and financial investment strategies. LIWI augments the academic programs of the LIU Post College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, a well-established, widely acclaimed center for liberal arts education.
