New Student Orientation

LIU Brooklyn Student OrientationNew Student Orientation is designed for high school graduates starting college and transfer students. Transitioning from high school to college or from another college can be both exciting and overwhelming. In order to facilitate your transition to LIU as smoothly as possible, you will be required to attend New Student Orientation, which includes an Advising & Registration Day (half day) and an Orientation day (full day). These sessions will give you an opportunity to meet and discuss your academic future with your advisor, learn about our various academic programs, register for classes, get to know your classmates, learn more about campus services, navigate the MyLIU portal and begin to get to know your new community better.

Once you have signed up for your desired Advising & Registration date, our Orientation staff will contact you with next steps regarding expectations and guidelines to prepare for your campus arrival. When you attend your Advising & Registration Day and have registered for classes, you will sign up to attend your Orientation Day.

Convenient Sessions

New Student Orientation dates are scheduled beginning in the spring and run throughout the summer. Sessions usually fill quickly so you should sign-up early to attend.  The fee for New Student Orientation is $55. Your orientation fee is non-refundable, but will be applied to your first semester tuition.
