B.S. in Music Education in Urban Schools
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Music Education in Urban Schools offers a full range of theoretical and practical studies in a primary instrument or voice, as well as in-depth music theory classes. This degree program emphasizes the traditional classical courses including private instruction, harmony and counterpoint, music history, performance ensembles, and juried performances. This degree program also requires additional courses in Teaching and Learning (TAL) offered through the School of Education.
Students may also choose to include other academic concentrations such as media arts, education or business in their course of study. In all programs, a strong academic foundation is provided by the diverse core curriculum of the Brooklyn Campus.
