Multimedia Language Lab

The state-of-the-art, interactive Multimedia Language Laboratory, located on the sixth floor of the Pratt Building, enables students to work individually or collaboratively on their language skills. Each station is equipped with full-motion video, Soundblaster audio, high fidelity headsets, a 17" monitor and a quad-speed CD ROM drive, as well as conventional audio and videotape capabilities. The purpose of the Multimedia Language Laboratory is to provide a learning environment where:

  • Students can use a full range of interactive software
  • Students can test themselves on content, and comprehension on any of the items covered in class
  • Students can practice speaking, taping their language, playing it back, making necessary corrections and re-taping
  • Students can check their grammar and spelling
  • Students can read material and check their comprehension of vocabulary and content
  • Students can practice pronunciation and listening comprehension through viewing and hearing material in English
  • Students can use the Internet and e-mail
