This organization brings together students who enjoy writing poetry and fiction, listening to others read their work, and exploring the literary scene in New York City. In the past, members of the English Club have attended a poetry slam at Nuyorican Poets Café; hosted a screening of the film Sankofa; taken a field trip to Columbia University Press; attended readings by Christina Garcia, Francisco Goldman, and Zadie Smith, at 92nd Street Y; and participated in an open-mike reading of their own work after a reading by Tracie Morris.
You don't have to be an English major to participate. The English Club is open to everyone and thrives on the enthusiasm of its members. If you want to meet other students who share your interests in literature and culture, join the English Club.
Watch the English Department blog (The Longest Island) for announcements of upcoming events.
