Description
Nursing has been my passion for over 35 years. During that time I have taken the opportunity to challenge myself and work in different areas. During the first half of my career, I was an intensive care nurse in New York and Massachusetts. I have held various nursing management positions including nurse manager of SICU, MICU, L&D and Mother-Baby. I am board certified in nursing administration.
The second half of my career was focused on family-centered care, including working in the community as a school nurse with students ranging from pre-school to middle-school aged children. I have extended my community nursing by working with a home care company to provide IV access, administration of medications and wound care to clients in their home.
After completing my master’s degree in 2005, I took the opportunity to use my expertise to teach nursing students. I started working for Adelphi University as an adjunct professor in obstetrics. I also obtained my certification as a legal nurse consultant, contemplating starting my own business.
During Summer 2009, I interviewed and obtained a position as an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. I am presently teaching medical surgical nursing at the fourth level and bringing students for their community clinical rotation to Queens Hospital Center.
