Said Hamdan is a native of Brooklyn, NY and was appointed as director of Long Island University’s Wellness Institute in September 2011. He returns to the Brooklyn Campus, where he served as head athletic trainer and curriculum director for graduate athletic training studies from 1886-1997. He was formerly the assistant athletic trainer for the New York Knickerbockers from 1997-2004. He served as associate head athletic trainer for St. John’s University from 2010-2011. He is a NATA certified athletic trainer. He also served as the district representative for the New York State Athletic Trainer’s Association from 1993-1997. He was the site athletic trainer for the 1994 Soccer World Cup at Giants Stadium. In 1996 he was a United States Olympic Committee volunteer. He was the athletic trainer for the 1999 NBA Eastern Conference All Stars, and the assistant athletic trainer for the 1999-2000 NBA Eastern Conference Champions. Said earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brooklyn College in 1984, and a master’s degree in athletic training from Long Island University in 1986. He is a frequent speaker at national sports medicine seminars and coaching clinics. He is the father of Matthew 18 and Christina 14.
