LIU Brooklyn Toastmasters Club Member Competes for ‘World Champion Public Speaker’ Title in Malaysia

LIU Brooklyn Marc WilliamsLIU Brooklyn Toastmasters Club Vice President of Membership Marc Williams, who also serves as vice principal at Brooklyn Tech High School, is a semi-finalist at the Toastmasters International speech contest that will take place in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia, in August, at the 83rd Annual International Convention. Williams defeated all-comers in four levels of contests that included participants from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Westchester, Long Island, and Queens.

At the international contest, he will represent District 46 and compete to earn a spot as one of the final nine contestants who are vying for the coveted title of “World Champion Public Speaker.” 

“Marc Williams has established a level of excellence that inspires all our members,” said Cecil Joseph, Ph.D., assistant professor of biochemistry at LIU Pharmacy and vice president of education for LIU Brooklyn Toastmasters. “He pushes other members to strive for their best in communications and leadership skills.”

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations. Headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., the organization has more than 292,000 memberships in more than 14,350 clubs in 122 countries. Since its inception in 2007, the LIU Brooklyn Toastmasters Club has fulfilled the requirements of Toastmasters International to earn the recognition as a distinguished club, select distinguished club and presidential distinguished club.
