LIU Brooklyn Promotes a Healthy Lifestyle with Fitversity Mondays

FitsversityLIU is partnering with The Monday Campaigns—a nonprofit public health initiative that dedicates the first day of every week to health—to bring Fitversity Mondays to LIU Brooklyn in order to promote well-being and health on campus. The program will continue through April.

Fitversity Mondays are meant to provide a little extra motivation to start off your week on the right path. The purpose of the program is to promote an all-around healthy lifestyle to the LIU community. Each Monday, there will be a different Fitversity initiative, including fitness assessments, stair-climbing initiative, yoga class, meatless Monday, or the chance to speak with a nutritionist. 

“We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to participate in Fitversity Mondays on the LIU Brooklyn campus,” said Gale Haynes, vice president, chief operating office, and legal counsel at LIU Brooklyn. “It’s a fun way to join the community to live a healthier and more active lifestyle!”

Participants can stop by the fitness center to pick up a card to keep track of participation in the program. Prizes will be given at the end. Faculty and staff will be eligible to enter a raffle to win a free gym membership and students will be eligible to enter a raffle to win fitness prizes. The program will culminate with a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge on May 5. For more information, please call the LIU Fitness Center at 718-488-1000, ext. 3009.

April 7

  • Fitness Assessment Monday: Find out how fit you really are! HWI in WRAC,  12 to 2 p.m.
  • 1 Mile Walk: 1 mile walk around campus, meet at Humanities Building, 12 to 1 p.m.

April 14

  • Stair It Up Monday – Climb a total of 10 flights during the day
  • 1 Mile Walk: 1 mile walk around campus, meet at Humanities Building, 12 to 1 p.m.

April 21

  • Meditation Monday: Free yoga class (please wear athletic attire), Fitness Center, 12 to 1 p.m.
  • 1 Mile Walk: 1 mile walk around campus, meet at Humanities Building, 12 to 1 p.m.

April 28

  • Meatless Monday: Tasty meat-free menu options available, Lutney Commons, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • 1 Mile Walk: 1 mile walk around campus, meet at Humanities Building, 12 to 1 p.m.

May 5

  • Program Finale: Meet at the M-Building Lobby at 12 p.m. to walk the Brooklyn Bridge!
