Brooklyn, N.Y. – LIU Brooklyn will host an intensive therapy program for teens and adults who stutter on Saturday, June 30 and Sunday, July 1. "Brooklyn Speaks," operated by the campus' Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, helps increase the self-confidence of teens and adults who stutter and boosts their ability to communicate more effectively.

The unique program integrates traditional treatment techniques with family and peer participation and support services. It also provides an opportunity for stutterers to meet others who stutter and for families to meet and share experiences.

"Brooklyn Speaks" is innovative in that family members and friends are invited to participate in the weekend as well. This network of support is the foundation of our program, and can play an important role in dealing with the incredible challenges that some people who stutter face every day," said Eric Jackson, coordinator of "Brooklyn Speaks" and an adjunct professor at LIU Brooklyn.

"Brooklyn Speaks" will take place at LIU Brooklyn, 1 University Plaza in downtown Brooklyn. Registration is $175 per participant; $225 for participant and a guest. To learn more, contact (718) 488-3480 or visit www.liu.edu/brooklyn.
