The Annual George Polk Seminar - A Revolution Betrayed: Covering Corruption and Human Rights in China. The panel includes: Holly Williams, CBS News; David Barboza, The New York Times; Wenxin Fan, Bloomberg News; John Darnton, moderator.
The George Polk Awards are conferred annually to honor special achievement in journalism. They were established by Long Island University in 1949 to commemorate George Polk, a CBS correspondent murdered the year before while covering the Greek civil war. The event is free and open to the public.
A pre-seminar reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Kumble Theater lobby. The panel discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information, email info@kumbletheater.org. The seminar is co-sponsored by Center for Communication, Inc.
