LIU Brooklyn Earth Day Film Screening April 19, 2013Please join the students of HS 320 Environmental Health Class in celebrating 2013 Earth’s Day.

On Friday, April 19th we will watch documentary film(s) and discuss important issues of production, pollution and serious health repercussions of using plastic bottles and shopping bags. We are responsible for our choices that will influence the future of our Earth.

Film Screening: ‘Tapped’, 11:00- 12:30p.m.
Location: Building of Health Sciences 121

Film examines the role of the bottled water industry and its effects on our health, climate change, pollution, and our reliance on oil. ‘Tapped’ explores the dark side of the bottled water industry, recycling issues and corporate manipulation. This is an award-winning, interesting, enlightening and must-see documentary.

Film Screening: ‘Bag it’, 1- 3:00p.m.
Location: Building of Health Sciences 121

This documentary exposes the effects of plastic shopping bags, other plastic consumer products and its effects on land ecosystems, the marine environment and the human body. The film's director and producer have toured California to raise awareness about a proposed state ban on plastic bags at grocery and convenience stores. It is a multiple award film that unravels the politics, recycling problem, waste and health issues of the plastic bags’ production.
