Something Positive presents: ANCESTRAL CHANT

This annual tribute concert celebrates the lives and legacies of three stalwarts of African American and African Caribbean Culture: Pearl Primus, Nina Simone and the founder of Something Positive, Cheryl Byron. Works include Michael Manswell’s Sweet Nina Suite honoring Nina Simone, Pearl Primus’ The Wedding in celebration of her legacy, and Cheryl Byron’s signature choreographic work, Ancestral Chant. This concert will feature a special performance by Tony Award and Emmy Award winning singer and actress, Lillias White.

Something Positive Presents: Cocktails & Conversations - A Fundraising Reception 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A pre-concert fundraising reception, Cocktails & Conversations – hosted by author Akoshia Yoba. Special guests include Tony Award and Emmy Award winning singer and actress, Lillias White. Music provided by the Nyasha Rhoden Steel Pan Quartet and DJ Keith. This reception introduces the Cheryl Byron Spirit Award.
