Brentwood, N.Y.-- Alumni from the Brentwood Campus who are considering going back to school for a master's degree or for extra classes, need not look any further than their own alma mater, thanks to an Alumni Scholarship that reduces tuition by one-third of the cost.
Anyone holding a Brentwood Campus of Long Island University degree or Advanced Certificate is eligible for the award. There is no limit on the number of courses that can be taken.
Desiree Metz, who earned a Master of Science in school counseling in May 2004 from Brentwood, was very pleased with the education and environment that the campus offered her. Close to her home and providing an environment that was "very comforting," Metz was thrilled to learn about the scholarship.
A program coordinator at Bilingual Inc, an agency that provides support services for children, Metz is now taking classes for a dual-certification master's in general and special education. She hopes to graduate in December of this year.
More than 40 Brentwood alumni have taken advantage of the program, which began in Fall 2005 semester. Coupled with a referral program that awards Brentwood students one free credit for every class that a friend or family member completes, the scholarship offers students and alumni many opportunities to earn another degree or further their education.
"We are happy to provide these opportunities for any alumni interested in garnering even more learning experiences," said Andrea Mojica director of financial aid at Brentwood.
