An immersive international program with more than 3,000 alumni that offers opportunities in eight different countries, LIU Global (formerly Friends World) is the only college in the world that combines full-time immersion into foreign countries and cultures, field study, internships, and community service for one-of-a-kind education.
Thanks to all who took part in the Celebration of 50 Years of World Education, bringing together our community from Friends World Institute, Friends World College, Friends World Program, Global College and LIU Global—and we missed all of you that were unable to attend, but hope to connect with you soon.
This memorable weekend served as a testament to the education you received and experiences you had during your time in our revolutionary program. Through reconnecting with classmates, hearing lectures from students and faculty, and sharing historical memories, we rekindled our commitment to what is now known as LIU Global. Together we will take forward these memories, follow through with plans to build an alumni association that involves students from all five decades of our rich history and brings new energy and life to the current students of LIU Global. I will be sure to stay in touch with you, keeping you informed of programmatic changes, volunteer opportunities, alumni activities and other happenings. In turn, I hope that you will continue to share your stories with me and help to take this program forward for the next 50 years of world education.
As we try to hold on to the momentum that was built during our weekend together, we plan on establishing a formal alumni association and alumni board for the FW/GC/LIU Global community, independent from the other LIU alumni communities, which will include committees such as mentoring, diversity, resources for students, archiving, etc, for example. By establishing the alumni association, there will be a formal structure so that interested alumni can work on these and other possible future projects. We would love to encourage each of you to volunteer in a capacity that you are comfortable with, and ask you to please fill out our Volunteer Interest Survey.
It was my sincere pleasure getting to meet you.
