ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 20, 2016) - This past weekend, the LIU Post dance team performed a pair of routines at the UDA National Championships and World Cheerleading Championships, both held at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

The Pioneers reached the finals of the open hip-hop competition and placed a program-best eighth at the UDA National Championships. Later that evening, LIU Post danced its way to a fifth-place showing in hip-hop dance at the World Cheerleading Championships.

"Overall, I think the competition went extremely well. We only learned these routines just two months ago, and had a lot to do in very little time," said co-captain Ashley Ioveno. "The girls were extremely dedicated. We had a goal to make finals and that is what we did. It was the best way I could have finished my senior year. I think we pulled everything together in the short time we had, and I don't think I could have had a better group of girls to do it with."

"We had two months to put together two routines. The girls really came together as a team and worked as hard as they could," Head Coach Kristen Olsen stated. "I was really proud of them because the work they put in over two months is what teams do in five months. They achieved their goals by reaching the finals, and it makes me excited for the future. I can't wait to see how much we can do with a full season together."
