LIU Pharmacy Inducts 28 Phi Lambda Sigma Members

On the evening of February 1, 28 student pharmacists were inducted as the newest members of the LIU Pharmacy’s Beta Kappa Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma. In addition, Dean John Pezzuto and Dr. Rutesh Dave were inducted as honorary members. It was the largest class of students inducted into the society by the College. The guest speaker was an alumnus, Mr. Michael Fedita’72, M’75 (15), Owner of J&J Pharmacy.

Founded in 1965, Phi Lambda Sigma is the pharmacy leadership society. Its mission is to support pharmacy leadership commitment by recognizing leaders and fostering leadership development. For the upcoming year, officers of the chapter will be Dilruba Eva Sultana, President, Keren Darzi, Vice-President, Amanda Pizzo, Secretary and Dexter Wimer, Treasurer. During the ceremony, the keynote speech was presented by Mr. Michael Fedita’72, M’75 (15), who in addition to being the owner of J&J Pharmacy, is a member of the LIU Pharmacy Council of Overseers. Dean Pezzuto presented closing remarks. The LIU chapter of Phi Lamda Sigma is renowned for recognizing and promoting student leadership in the College by fostering collaboration among the 21 active pharmacy clubs and organizations on campus.
