The Office of Government Relations & Public Policy develops and maintains relationships with elected officials and public officers at the federal, state, local and city levels of government. Part of the University Relations group, the Office communicates regularly with legislators concerning the interests of the University and its constituents, monitors relevant government activity, provides input and advice concerning legislation that may affect the University and higher education at large, and applies for government funding to help support educational and community service projects.
It also advocates for or against legislative initiatives and policies that impact the University and its students. In addition, the Office presents events that bring government leaders and elected officials to the University’s campuses and assists with the organization of campus-based political debates and annual voter registration drives.
