President's Message

LIU is driven by its mission of Access and Excellence, which summarizes our commitment to provide the best possible learning environment that supports every student’s educational aspirations.  As an institution devoted to the art of teaching, we ask that our students challenge themselves and the world around them as they grow into informed, caring citizens who appreciate the richness of a global society and contribute to its diversity.

I am honored to serve as president of this special university, where men and women from all walks of life have passed through our doors in search of access to the American dream. We have been privileged to serve them as they met and exceeded their goals. My efforts to advance the University have culminated in the five-priority Strategic Agenda, launched in 2006. Through this long-term initiative we are strengthening student services, investing in faculty support and development, creating innovative academic programs, upgrading the facilities that support all forms of learning, and improving our management of precious resources.
